Summer weddings are in full swing despite the weather in Scotland being "unpredictable" at the very least. Summer weddings kicked off in May and I've got bookings through to October then it tails off a bit as autumn takes hold. There's still a few weekends throughout the summer when I'm available for those last minute bookings. Check out the featured weddings on my blog for June and July; Sarah and Gary in June and Jess and Scott in July.
Sarah was a very special wedding as she's my oldest daughter and she asked me to shoot her wedding, so I must be doing things right. Sarah's an interior designer and has an eye for texture, colour and detail as well as being very schedule-conscious so she kept me to time and on my toes too! Not much time for drinking champagne and chatting to guests, I had work to do.
Jess was special too. A good friend from my days in RBS when, as technology project managers, we shared an office and regularly came up against the immovable object that was Technology Services. Jess was one of 6 girls who announced their engagements after New Year 2009 (see What Value is in a Website?) and in doing her wedding photos, takes me up to 50% conversion rate of those 6 wedding opportunities. Since we both left RBS Jess and I have become good friends and, along with her husband Scott, who is an absolutely genuine guy (and a lucky one too!), so it was a pleasure and a privilege to be asked to shoot their wedding.
The weddings themselves were very different, one a smaller, family affair and the other in an iconic location, but both shared the sense of celebration and joy that is a central part of a "good" wedding. The images of both weddings reflect the sense of family and occasion while at the same time providing them both with stunning shots that they can look back on over the years.
