Lynne and Mac, Prestonfield House Hotel, Edinburgh
Date: 5th September 2010
My first time at Prestonfield House. Who would ever have thought that such a mind-blowing, sensory-overloading venue could be hidden away under the shadow of Arthur's Seat and fronted by a phalanx of mature bungalows. Well, that's Prestonfield.
Set in its own grounds with a majestic driveway approach, Prestonfiled begins its assault on your belief as soon as you pass the sand-stoned column gates. Mature trees honour the driveway and gardens abound to left and right. But just as you're shaking your head in wonder at how you never discovered this venue before... you go inside and then its jaw-dropping as the whole place is dripping in mouth-watering tapestries, paintings and deeply-coloured walls. And that's just the entrance! Then there's the reception... but enough of the venue.
Lynne and Mac decided that it was time to tie the knot after being together for years and, as they said to me when I first met them, this was an excuse for a big party and to get dressed up. Mac is a character, ex-military, you're not quite sure where he's been but you don't want to ask in case its secret, 'cos then he'd have to kill you, and he looks like he'd have no bother with that at all! But a nicer guy you'll never meet, charming, hospitable and very clearly deeply in love with Lynne. Lynne was stunning and Mac hadn't seen her dress until she swayed up beside him for the ceremony. She looks at Mac in that way that tells you she's just hooked. Whatever, he says or does, she's entranced by him. Its good to see that at a wedding and I hope I've managed to catch just a few of those looks between them. A lovely couple, I'm honoured to have been chosen to shoot their wedding.
